Certificate of insurance tracking by state
Subcontractor insurance rules differ by state: who must carry workers’ compensation, how indemnity and additional insured clauses are limited, and which lookups verify coverage. Pick your state to see what applies. We build state pages only where we can add real guidance.
States we cover
Why the rules matter
- Workers’ comp isn’t the same everywhere. In Texas, most private employers can opt out. In Florida and California, a sub with no employees may hold an exemption instead of a policy.
- Some states can make you pay for an uninsured sub. Florida, Georgia and North Carolina each have a statutory employer rule.
- A certificate doesn’t prove everything. Licenses, endorsements and exemptions are separate checks.
We cover a state only after reading the statute or agency page ourselves. See the state-by-state verification directory.
Frequently asked questions
Which states do you cover?
California, Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina and Texas so far. Pick yours below. If it isn’t listed, you can ask us to add it.
Do I need a state-specific guide?
It helps. Workers’ comp rules, exemptions and who’s liable for an uninsured sub vary a lot by state.
